A business leader with over 35 years of experience in B2B sales and marketing, including multiple successful start-ups, Russ Sharer serves as a founder and principal of Sharer & Associates, a professional consultancy towards Leaders as well as Sales and Marketing professionals. He combines his work experience with a lifelong commitment to learning and strong communication skills to help individuals and team maximize their outcomes.
Prior to his current role, Russ served as VP of Global Marketing and Business Development for Fulham. Fulham is a global developer and supplier of innovative and energy-efficient lighting sub-systems for luminaire manufacturers. He was responsible for product strategy, sales readiness, global partnerships with complimentary technology suppliers and channel partners and outbound marketing.
Sharer also served as Vice President of Marketing at Occam Networks, helping the company to become a top supplier of broadband equipment in North America. In 2006 Deloitte named the company its Fastest Growing High Technology Company in North America. At Occam he was the lead marketing executive as the company grew from a pre-product start-up to over $100M in annual revenue, and helped Occam build the number one brand in its market.
Prior to his time at Occam, Russ was Vice President Product Marketing for Ericsson Datacom, Inc., and he ran a consulting business specializing in communications marketing and product management. Clients included MediaOne, Nortel Networks, and Bell Atlantic. Russ has also run the client products and remote access businesses of Xircom, and performed as the Director of Marketing and Strategic Planning at Rockwell, Communication Systems group.
He has worked extensively in North America, Europe and Asia. Russ has also been involved with eight successful M&A efforts.
Russ has a BS in Industrial and Systems Engineering from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, and a Masters in Organizational Leadership from Gonzaga University. He and his wife Julie live in Santa Barbara, CA.
